We have been using ultrasound guidance for embryo transfer since 1996 when it was first suggested as an adjunct to improve pregnancy rates with embryo transfer for IVF. The soft catheters have also been a standard item since the late 1990’s. Ultrasound allows us to visualize the depth of the catheter placement to place the embryo at 1cm below the top of the cavity. We have noted excellent success with this technique.
